No cysts, does that mean no gene?

Postby mikeymo » Sun May 14, 2017 10:45 am

My sister has PKD (she's 64, I'm 59). I've had an ultrasound and the operator said he couldn't see any cysts. The opinion seems to be that if I was going to get cysts I would have them by now. Does that mean I don't have the faulty gene? Or can you have the faulty gene and not develop cysts. I'm thinking about my kids, whether they should be tested (sometime) and so on.
